Best Performance Awards

For a film to be considered in any category, it is not necessary for that said film to have been played or opened in Houston prior to our deadlines. The membership of the HFCS will consider any film that we view in a theater or screen via DVD.

The Houston Film Critics Society will vote on the following end of the year film awards. The deadline for voting will be determined by the governing Committee.

The award categories shall be:

  • Best Picture
  • Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role
  • Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role
  • Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role
  • Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role
  • Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast
  • Best Director of a Motion Picture
  • Best Screenplay
  • Best Animated Film
  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Documentary Feature
  • Best Foreign Language Film
  • Best Original Song
  • Best Original Score
  • Outstanding Achievement in Cinema
*Additional awards may be given at the discretion of the membership.
